Italian hacker Finds Evidence that Qualcomm baseband Chips might be used in next gen iPhone models

Italian hacker Zibri has found a string of code in iTunes (by decompiling it) showing Qualcomm Baseband chips to be used in iPhone 5 and iPad 2

here is the code he found in iTunes (also on his blog)

Here’s what Zibri has to say about it

“In the picture above you see a “chunk” of code from the latest iTunes.Maybe, for the most of you, names like”partition.mbn” or “AMSS.MBN” means little or nothing.

For me and a few others that means only one thing:QUALCOMM.

Those files are the building blocks of any Qualcomm baseband.
So I can tell you that the next wave of iProducts will be using a QUALCOMM baseband.

Which one I don’t know… maybe the iPad2, maybe the iPhone5 most probably all of them.

What is clear is that they are testing them using the same iTunes

you have on your hard drives.”

Hopefully all of this does just point straight to the Verizon iPhone..what a shame that would be.

but I think he is on to something.

Also last years august Qualcomm had a job posting  for “iPhone Developer Guru”, Well if that isn’t a hint I don’t know what is.

And also reported last year was that Qualcomm was working on a GCM/CDMA chipset, Would that be cool or what! I think that’s just me being geeky though.

what do you think?
